Training for Montreal's workforce

Montréal International lists Greater Montreal's key sectors as aerospace, artificial intelligence, clean technology, cybersecurity, defence and security, electric transportation, fintech, IT services and software, life sciences and health technologies, quantum technologies, research and development, video games, and visual effects and animation.

Each of these has its own training, and most of it has to be recorded:

  • Aerospace and defence: procedure, quality and certification tracking for technical and production staff.
  • Technology, AI and video games: onboarding and professional development for fast-growing teams.
  • Life sciences and health technologies: procedure training and policy acknowledgements with renewal dates.
  • Fintech and financial services: codes of conduct, privacy and policy acknowledgements.
  • Visual effects and animation: onboarding for studios that staff up project by project.

Your policies, your courses

Most of the training our clients deliver comes from their own corporate policies, procedures and standards. OurTrainingRoom puts those in front of the right people: courses assigned by group and location, bulletins that staff must acknowledge, exams, certificates and renewals, with every completion recorded on each person's transcript. If your material is in slide decks or binders today, we can turn it into online courses.

Quebec requirements

Where a Quebec rule calls for a specific course, content or record, we work through it with you, one-on-one, when we set up your training.

Two Quebec rules are worth knowing when you plan training. Under the Charter of the French Language, training documents produced for staff must be available in French. Under the Act to promote workforce skills development and recognition, employers whose payroll exceeds $2 million must invest at least 1% of payroll in employee training each year, or pay the difference into the Workforce Skills Development and Recognition Fund. OurTrainingRoom's records show what training was delivered and when.
